The Big Move part 3

The Big Move

(Part Three).

We recently collectively exchanged the Beyart chapel chairs with the chairs from the estate (the Schark). With two cars, we had to make several trips back and forth because not many chairs with backs fit in one car. (See photographs) But everything went well. Now we still need to place a few cabinets that we selected along with the chairs, and then the movers only need to enter the Beyart at two places.

The meeting with the contractors (Home Ready) who will lay the floors and hang the curtains went very well. They will also finish and paint the walls. We chose fabric for the curtains and also discussed how they will be hung. Their schedule was planned for March and has not changed. As soon as we get the keys, they can start. The kitchens can then also be installed by another company.

On February 9, we were invited to inspect the flats. We did this together with an expert. We went from room to room and checked everything: The windows, doors, walls, taps, and electricity. If something was unfinished or not installed, it was noted. We spent the whole day like this. We have now agreed that on the day we receive the keys, we will check everything again and then sign off that it has been delivered. We will then become the owners of the flats.

After this, the interior work can begin. Those companies will start on the ground floor and then work upwards. The first move is planned for April.

Now that we have finished the lists of the general furniture, we have looked at what the individual brothers still want to have, and then we also know what will remain. These lists are almost complete. The lists of the individual desks still need to be checked.

Due to death and illness, the composition of the community has changed. We started with 16 flats with 12 flats to live in. Of the 18 brothers, 14 still want to move, which means there will be a different distribution. We still have to select furniture for all the flats.

All flats will be furnished so that new members can always join.

The sale of various items from Burg. Cortenstraat is going well. Team Beyart has placed everything on Marktplaats, and people can make offers. Things we thought could not be sold

went out the door first. But some things remain. Pickup is another story. People can only pick up in the middle of the day, so you have to stay home. Or late in the evening when you think you can rest. But we are happy when something goes out the door again.

Owners' Meeting.

Brothers Lo Koeleman and Jos Bom attended the owners' meeting. The VvE, Association of Owners, consists of VvE Geusseltpark as the main association, subdivided into VvE Geusseltpark Scheg 1A, VvE Jardin, and Stichting Wonen Limburg. The VvE Jardin Monet is further subdivided into; the VvE Jardin Monet Tower, VvE Jardin Monet Low-rise Middle, VvE Jardin Monet Low-rise Head, and VvE Jardin Monet parking spaces and storage. VvE Jardin Low-rise middle contains the 16 apartments of the FIC brothers.

Lo Koeleman, Jos Bom, and Jos van Dinther are the representatives of this VvE.

We received a whole book of all possible rules about the use and maintenance of the flats. Everything is in it. The goal of the VvEs is to promote a pleasant and good way of living. There is a house rule. To prevent fire, danger, and nuisance, for example, no statues or paintings may be placed in the hall. There are also rules for the balconies, etc.

By establishing the VvEs, insurances can now be taken out, among other things. Transport of Large Cabinets.

We have selected a few antique cabinets for general use and also for the living rooms. Some cabinets cannot be taken apart because they are put together with mortise and tenon joints and glue. Of course, you can always saw something through, but then it will probably be a problem with use. A few pieces of furniture are also very long and probably cannot fit in the elevator. We are not allowed to bring anything in over the balcony because ponds have been made right in front of the building. The depth of the elevator is 200 cm, so we have to discuss this with the movers.

As a precaution, we visited IKEA to see what is available. Bathroom and toilet supplies, lamps, and cabinets.

Dishes and Cutlery.

Some time ago, we asked residents of the various houses to make lists of the dishes and cutlery available in the communities. We also knew that quite a lot was stored in the basement of the estate (the Schark). Jos Bom has now started selecting and packing the general dishes and cutlery. We also want to offer each flat a set. Some may not be used, but then we know it is stored there. In this way, we can receive visitors for years. You are warmly welcome.

The Key Handover.

On February 23 (2026), we were invited in the morning to walk along with a group of people who were going to inspect the outside of the building. The hall of our flats is also part of that. That hall is not ours but belongs to the municipality. It is already completely finished. In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to sign, and thus the handover became a fact. Brother Lo signed as owner for the congregation. We are now the owners of the 16 flats on Olympiapad.

After receiving the keys, we also received 16 gifts from the contractor, from Wijnen in Sittard. They are toolboxes with useful tools and other things for the flats.

After the final payments were made, we received the keys. The interior work could begin. This is done by a company called “Home Ready.”

Together with the installation of the kitchens, it takes about one and a half months.

Team Beyart had already invited the worldwide foundation to pick up the tools and machines. They could not take everything at once, so they have to come back again. They also want the garden tools from Burg. Cortenstraat, and we have added those.

All lists of furniture for the common areas are completely ready. The detailed lists of the individual brothers are also almost ready. Here and there some improvements need to be made, but there is a good overview of where the furniture is now and where it needs to go.

These lists have been discussed with the movers. Now a schedule must be made of the names of brothers who will move on a specified date. This gives them enough time to pack everything and be ready when the moving truck arrives. When this date is known, we will first move the brothers who live on the upper floor of Burg. Cortenstraat. These are four brothers, three of whom will end up on the 1st floor. These brothers can then receive the other furniture and start the community.

At PBS, the archive still needs to be sorted out, shelves emptied, and decisions made about what will be sold on Marktplaats. Then the furniture still needs to be gathered to make loading easier. A decision also needs to be made about the many books we have. All these things have At PBS, the archive still needs to be sorted out, shelves emptied, and decisions made about what will be sold on Marktplaats. Then the furniture still needs to be gathered to make loading easier. A decision also needs to be made about the many books we have. All these things have already been done at Beyart, Burg. Cortenstraat, and the Red Lion.

We are almost ready. Brothers from different countries, with different experiences, mentalities, and religious backgrounds will try to form a community together.

The material things are almost in place. But we also need to prepare ourselves spiritually to take the step. Not everyone is ready, but there is still time. Where there is a will, there is a way.

To be continued. Brother Jos van Dinther
