NEWS Effective Communication in Team The day’s program began with uplifting morning prayers led by Malawi Province, setting a reflective and spiritual tone for the sessions that followed. The prayers brought the participants together in unity and devotion, preparing their hearts and minds for the day’s learning and sharing. Bro facilitated the first session. Raphael Besigrinee, who presented on the theme “Constitutional Regulations on Leadership.” During this session, members from all provinces engaged in an enriching discussion about the relevance of the Constitutions and Regulations within our religious institute. The participants reflected on how these guiding documents shape the congregation's charism and mission, ensuring fidelity to our founding vision and commitment to service. The session encouraged a deeper appreciation of the Constitution as a living document that continues to guide the congregation’s spiritual and administrative life. In the second session, Bro. Nee Wayoe Bertrand facilitated a presentation on Effective Communication. His talk emphasised the importance of personal space and communication, identifying indicators of poor speaking habits and the essential ingredients of good listening. He discussed various blocks to listening and offered practical techniques for responding effectively in conversations. Bro. Nee also explored factors that inhibit communication, providing valuable insights into how tension and defensiveness can arise in interpersonal exchanges. He explained what happens when communication breaks down and shared strategies for improving both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. The interactive nature of the session helped participants reflect on their own communication patterns and how to foster more understanding and openness in community life. The day concluded with a celebration of Mass, a fitting spiritual close to a day filled with discussions and reflection. This was followed by supper and recreation, offering participants an opportunity to relax, share experiences, and strengthen bonds of fraternity. |
