BRIEF REPORT ON OUTING TO COSY HILLS – JIRAPA

Today, Saturday, 24^Th September, 2022, the twelve participants of the ConCon, 2022 had a well-deserved break after a weeklong intensive meeting that left participants exhausted. This tiredness clearly manifested in participants in varied forms. The outing to a different environment therefore, was a necessity to help participants relax and refresh themselves in readiness for next week’s marathon of meetings. The place for this needed rest/recreation could not have been anywhere else in the Upper West Region other than the Royal Cosy Hills.

Royal Cosy Hills, nicknamed “Jirapa Dubai” by locals due to its timeless elegance, is a germ in the Upper West Region of Ghana in the area of tourism, hospitality and wildlife safari provision. It is a 4-star luxury safari resort located on the Jirapa to Babile road. The Hotel accordingly, has 126 rooms comprising of 60 standard suites, 52 luxurious suites and 14 executive apartments. Jirapa Dubai offers its guests, a wide range of facilities including four different food and beverage outlets, an adult and children’s outdoor swimming pool, two conference halls, a night club and bar. Others are: a tennis court, a spa, a salon, a boutique, a man-made lake and wildlife safari. Above all, Cosy Hills has a friendly and well organised staff who demonstrates by action that, customer satisfaction is one of their chief priorities in their service delivery.

Cosy Hills is perhaps, one of the topmost preferred destinations of tourist attraction and relaxation for many people in the Upper West Region and beyond. For those who can afford and desire to have a rest/recreate in an environment that is unique in its features and content, head for Cosy Hills. At first sight for the first time visitor, one may be tempted to imagine that it is a place for only the affluent of society. On the contrary, Jirapa Dubai offers a wide range of options for most of its services to meet the financial strength of the many different guests it receives daily throughout the week. 

For majority of ConCon Participants, the outing to Cosy Hills was our first experience and certainly, was exciting. On arrival, we were received by very friendly staff. After a welcome and introduction to the park including its rules and regulations, an assigned guide treated us to a safari ranch adventure, lasting for about two hours of walk around the 4Km square park. We saw wild animals including hippos, lions and zebras among others. Half-way through the walk, we had a cool-off at a summer hut located in the middle of the man-made lake of the park. Happily, greater part of the day’s weather was sunny and benefited our park adventure walk. Although it was not a primary goal, the walk was also a good physical exercise made. We rounded up the tour at the Hotel for a good buffet lunch under an elevated and airy summer hut that allowed us to see the vast surrounding beautiful scenery of the resort. Before our departure back to base, some participant took a walk around the Hotel facility just to satisfy their curiosity. 

Generally, in my opinion, it was a day well spent. A successful outing that gave us the needed recreation. We thank God for the successful day granted us. We also thank the General Council for offering us this special treat.
