Dear Brothers,

It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Hans van Leeuwen, who died on November 21, 2023.

The mourning card reads as follows:

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the sudden death of 

BROTHER HANS VAN LEEUWEN

Henricus Wilhelmus Maria

Brother Hans was born on September 7, 1926 in The Hague.

He made his profession as a FIC Brother on August 15, 1948.

He died on November 21, 2023 in the Residential Care Center De Beyart in Maastricht.

Brother Hans' long life was marked by sincere service. After his profession he worked at the Canisius School in Nijmegen. With his English certificate in hand, he went to Pakistan in 1965, a new area of work for the Congregation. Brother Hans mastered the language of the people, Urdu. He served both in Pakistan and later in the Netherlands after his return in 1981. He settled in Amsterdam and helped many Pakistanis. Due to his declining health, Brother Hans moved to De Beyart Residential Care Center in Maastricht in 2020.

Despite his old age, he has still stolen many hearts with his sensitivity to language, critical note and humor.

We say goodbye to Brother Hans on Monday, November 27 at 14:30 PM in the chapel of De Beyart. We will then lay him to rest at the cemetery of the Brothers FIC at the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.
