Bro. Oscar NaapeulmwanNibeenyel-Arigyem (Gem), FIC was born on 16Th November, 1952 at Chetu to Mr. Michael Gem and Madam Yolanda Tibe both of blessed memory. His father was a farmer and his mother a house wife. He was the 2Nd child and first son of his parents. He had 4 sisters and a younger brother - Cyril Gem who now keeps the fort of the family at Chetu.

Bro. Oscar started formal education at the age 7. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Primary School in Fielmon from 1959 - 1965 and from 1965 - 1969 attended Nemora LA Middle School also in Fielmon. Before he could complete middle school, he got admission into Secondary School twice, but could not make it due to financial constraints.
