Dear Brothers,

It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Roelof van Grinsven on 21 April 2015.

The text of the mourning card reads as follows:

“Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

           'For my Shepherd is the Lord, I shall lack nothing' (Psalm 23)

Brother Roelof van Grinsven FIC

Pieter Theodorus Antonius Cornelius

Pieter was born on May 14, 1920 in Aalst (NL). At his profession with the Brothers FIC in 1939 he took the religious name Roelof. On April 21, 2015 he died at De Beyart, where he previously had also received the anointing of the sick.

Like many in his home family, he was also called to the religious life. He was involved with heart and soul in his longstanding commitment for mentally retarded boys in Maastricht and the deaf youth in St. Michielsgestel. The years in the presbytery in Vlijmen came on his way by chance. At both places brother Roelof was satisfied with his path of life.

He showed a lot of wisdom and a great ability to relativize. Until the end Brother Roelof maintained good contact with his sister-in-law, who was a regular guest at De Beyart.

We say goodbye to brother Roelof in the Eucharistic celebration on Friday, April 24 in the chapel of De Beyart, starting at 14:30 pm. After that, the burial ceremony will take place at our the FIC graveyard near the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.

The evening's Vigil will take place on Thursday, April 23, starting at 17.30 pm in the chapel of De Beyart.
