INMEMORIAM
Decease Bro. Othmar La Rooij FIC.

Dear Brothers,
It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Othmar La Rooij on 26 November 2015.
The text of the mourning card reads as follows:
"Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary
'None of us lives for himself, no one dies for himself'
After a life of service to fellow people and his Lord we have to say goodbye to our loyal family member and fellow brother
BROTHER OTHMAR LA ROOIJ  FIC
Felius Jacobus
He was born on June 19, 1930 in Amsterdam. On August 15, 1950 he committed himself to our Congregation. He passed away on November 26, 2015 in the residential care centre De Beyart in Maastricht.
Being the eldest in a family of seven children, Othmar grew up in Amsterdam. During his primary school years he was inspired by a teaching brother, which resulted in going to the FIC training boarding in Zevenaar in 1942. In Waalwijk he was head of the Theresia School. On his last day at school, he was honoured for his merits as Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
In 1994 Othmar was asked to become superior of the St. Lidwina community in Motherhouse De Beyart. For six years he was close to his fellow brothers with advice and actual assistance.
In the last stage of his life he was bothered by physical problems. His world was getting smaller and smaller. He missed the silence that he often experienced in the beautiful garden of De Beyart. Brother Othmar is now part of the silence of the Eternal Light.
We say goodbye to brother Othmar in the Eucharistic celebration on Thursday, December 3 at 14:30 in the chapel of De Beyart, Brusselsestraat 38 Maastricht. After that, the burial ceremony will take place at our monastery cemetery near the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.
The evening vigil will take place on Wednesday, December 2, starting at 17.30 in the chapel of De Beyart.
On behalf of the Congregation FIC and the Community “Overkant”:
Bro. Kees Gordijn, Provincial Superior,
Brusselsestraat 38, 6211 PG Maastricht
On behalf of the family:
Fam. Scheepers-La Rooij,
Nieuwe Waalreseweg 36a,
5552 EK Valkenswaard      "

May he now rest in eternal peace.
