PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE (day one Opening Session, by SK Godwin)

BROTHERS FIC GHANA PROVINCE. PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE

DATE: 14TH – 17TH NOVEMBER, 2021

VENUE: ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY CONFERENCE HALL – WA

THEME: “DEEPENING OUR APOSTOLIC MISSION THROUGH PRAYER AND

      COMMUNITY LIFE”

REPORT FOR OPENING SESSION – Day one

Delegates from various communities within the Province arrived in St. Louis Community at different hours of the day in readiness for the conference in the evening. The usual FIC jokes and laughter among members especially those who had not met for some time made the atmosphere hilarious and entertaining. The weather has been cool and refreshing especially the crepuscular hours of the evening.

At about 8:16pm, the much-awaited hour was dawn when the Provincial Superior (Br. Seregeous Dery) called the house to order and invited Br. Felicio Gyeyir to open the conference with a prayer. This was done. The Provincial Superior proceeded to deliver his welcome address. He called on delegates to observe objectivity in discussing issues and tolerance for the opinion of others. Two participants in the persons of Br. Cosmas Kanmwaa, conference delegate and Br. Nimorious Ganee a secretariat staff were excused from the conference for various reasons.

A good will message from the General Superior (Br. Augustine Kubdaar) was read out to the delegates, thereafter, the conference functionaries were presented to the house as follows. Food and drinks committee; accommodation committee; agenda committee; daily communication committee; secretariat staff and tellers. The daily time table; the daily liturgy for prayers and members for the various groups for discussions were carefully examined, adjusted and accepted by the house as guiding documents for the conference for the rest of the days. A closing prayer to the session was said by Br. Godwin Kuu-Ireme Saabekone at about 9:10pm. Members relocated to the St. Louis Community Hall to end the evening with our usual recreation.
