DATE: SUNDAY, 21ST – SATURDAY, 27 JANUARY, 2024

THEME: DEEPENING OUR RELIGIOUS IDENTITY AS BROTHERS FIC IN THE 21ST

CENTURY.

The official opening session for the Provincial Chapter 2024 took place in the St. Louis conference hall on Sunday, 21st of January, 2024. An opening prayer service was conducted by Brs. Fabian Bezel and Godwin Kuu-Ireme S. On behalf of the Provincial Council-Ghana. Following this was the introduction of the Chapter facilitator; delegates and other functionaries. The Provincial Superior (Br. Seregeous Dery) welcomed all delegates and the facilitator (Rev. Fr. Dominic Apee, M.Afr.) to the week-long programme.

In the welcome address of the Provincial Superior, he outlined the key points for organizing the Provincial Chapter to include:

  1. For Chapter delegates to appraise the administration of the province being manned by the sitting Provincial Council over the past five years.
  2. Discuss the Provincial Council report as well as appraise the implementation of the 2018 Provincial Council Chapter and General Chapter Resolutions.
  3. Elect our new Provincial delegates for the 2024 General Chapter scheduled for 4th – 24th August, 2024 at ISTC, Wa – Ghana.
  4. Formulate new resolutions to guide the operations of the next PC for the period November, 2024 – 2030. Such policies should aim at reinvigorating the spirit of our founders in the life of the Brothers as well as engender renewals that would make us more responsive to the needs of society and mother church.
  5. Discharge the exiting PC of its function.
  6. Elect new PC for the period 2024 to2030.

Two Goodwill messages from the General Superior of FIC (Br. Augustine Kubdaar) and the General Secretary (Br. Paul Sabogu) respectively were read to the house by the two recording secretaries. The Provincial Superior also took participants through the daily programme, highlighting the functionaries and their role in bringing success to the programme at the end of the exercise. The day’s activities were brought to a close at about 9:15pm. Some members moved to the recreation hall of the St. Louis Community for evening relaxation.
