REPORT FOR DAY 10.
THEME: COMMUNICATION POLICY OF THE CONGREGATION.
The day began with a special prayer service in the Chapel to mark the 40th birth day of Bro. Valentinus Daru from the Indonesia province. Fortunately it was also the turn of Indonesia province to prepare for the liturgy of the day. Bro. Giwal led the morning service with inspiring songs. Bro. Valentinus was invited to share his life experiences with the brothers and he did this in a lyrical grace.
Following the prayer in the chapel to thank God for the life of Bro. Valentinus was breakfast. The proceedings for the day were facilitated by Theodorus Suwariyanto on the theme stated above. Bro. Theodorus gave a practical presentation on the following topics:
A. Communication from the Chapter message 2012 (Faith communication and communications at all levels),
B. Working relationship between Provincial Councils and General Council
C. FIC Website, Facebook and Twitter
D. International FIC Magazine
E. Circular letter, Pastoral letter information General Council.
Bro. Theodorus noted in his opening remarks that communication is an indispensable and important tool for our lives as brothers. Faith communication he said is significant in our lives since it has the potency to keep us united. To keep our faith alive, we have to encourage ourselves to talk to others what really motivates us to be religious brothers. The various Provinces were made to share on their experiences of faith communication and its impact on the lives of the brothers in the various Provinces. When this was done, members went out for a thirty minutes brake to refresh ourselves. On returning to the second session for the day, Bro. Theodorus took us through the internet page to page demonstrating the three in one website – twitter, face book and FIC website. How the International FIC magazine is organized was shown to participants. The demonstration also covered how to change a write up in one language into another. There are some suggestions in order to improve the quality of the magazine. In general all participants appreciate very much the efforts of the General Council to use the modern means of communications.
As the agenda demands, the afternoon session was skipped to make way for the General Council to hold a closed door meeting with the Malawi delegation. The day’s activities were brought to a close in the evening with a mass service to commemorate the 40th birth day of Bro. Valentinus as mentioned already. Brothers from the Provincial house and Kaleo communities were invited to grace the occasion.
