REPORT ON OUR “SHARED MISSION” Pangudi Luhur Foundation.

The morning session started with a prayer by Chile Province. Before we started our morning session, some information was announced by Bro. Theodorus in connection with the activities of the day. The whole morning session was about “Shared Mission” and the moderator was Bro. Theodorus. The main speaker on our “Shared mission” was Bro. Bambang Nugroho PhD. Bro. Bambang is in the team of Board of Directors for Yayasan Pangudi Luhur Schools. He started sharing his rich experiences about the management of Pangudi Luhur Foundation with a hymn song of Pangudi Luhur Schools.

Pangudi Luhur foundation was founded by Bro. Leonardo, FIC in 1954. Its main objective is to strive for nobility. The foundation schools are a form of manifestation of concern for the weak, small, poor, marginalized and the disabled.

The Pangudi luhur school / Foundation has: Ecclesiastical identity, Cultural identity, Public service identity, Communication identity, and Congregational identity. The foundation has produced bishops, priest, brothers, nuns and Church leader. The number of Brothers involved in the running and management of the school are 70.

Goals of YPL is to develop inner feeling of students so that they can see the goodness of God in their lives and others and circumstances about others in society; to help the students find and fulfill the universal values where are valuable for the faithful; to motivate all the teachers to understand and to live the ten values of Bro. Bernardus Hoecken and character formation.

A distinguished educational institution for the youth standing on the spirituality of God is Love.

Mission of YPL

1. To handle the apostolic works of the Foundation professionally, realistically, critically and contextually.
2. Effective implementation of management system: e.g. accountable and transparency.
3. To promote the apostolic work of YPL while paying special attention to the poorest of the poor.
4. To live up and develop units as community of faithful people that center on Jesus Christ.

YPL is a well organized educational institution. It has a Credit Union. The participants paid a visit to the Foundation and it was very impressive.

After the presentations by Bros. Bambang dan Frans Sugi, all provinces and Religious House of The Netherlands had the opportunity to share their experience and opinion about “Shared Mission”. We agreed that the success of this foundation because of the spirit of “shared mission”, our working together with all people who have good will and our collaborators namely teachers, administrators, parents, etc. We do hope that by the spirit of “Shared Mission” we can continue the works of Jesus in the field of education.
