CONCON – LIMBE – MALAWI, TUESDAY, 26^THAUGUST, 2014         

The second day of the business session of the ConCon 2014 started with a morning prayer led by Bro. Wim Luiten under the theme ‘trust the inner voice of love’ and supported by excerpts of reflections from the work of Henri Nouwen. Soon after breakfast, participants convened in the conference hall for the start of the day’s business. It would be recalled that the day before was devoted to reports from the various Provinces as well as the General Council (GC). However, due to the extensive nature of the reports from some provinces and time taken for questioning, clarifications and discussions, the GC’s report had to be shifted to today due to time constraints.

Having first exhausted the remnant work of the previous day (GC report), this morning; the rest of the day was used to examine the implementation of the 2012 General Chapter Resolutions, while simultaneously giving further planning to scheduled events aimed at facilitating the realization of the objectives of the General Chapter resolutions. Items that caught attention and discussions included among others: the international meeting for FIC formators (Resol. 8A) slated to take place in Indonesia in the year 2016 and the involvement of professionals in our formation (Resol. 9A). The rest are: Resolution 12A which hinges on inter-provincial exchange of experts in formation, resolution 16 which deals with vocation promotion and prevention of sexual abuse of minors (Resol. 13). Provinces as well as the General Council took turns to share their experiences and efforts made so far in implementing the above General Chapter resolutions. Wrapping up the day’s discussions, the General Treasurer gave a comprehensive report on the outcome of the Workshop Treasurers, organised in the Netherlands from 2^Nd – 13^Th June, 2014 for Provincial Treasurers. The day ended with a Eucharistic celebration at 6:00pm followed by supper and recreation.
