Day Seven of Concon (27-08-2014).

Time is flying! This is often a good sign. It means we have been using the time well. There are two days left to meet one another.

The major part of our meeting today was spent discussing the financial aspects of the congregation. There was also the evaluation of the workshop for provincial treasurers that was held in Maastricht. Final remarks and corrections on the Finance and Administration Manual were done. Brother Remy as General treasurer presented financial report for half a year of the financial situation of the Congregation. There were some slight improvements noticed about the financial situation of the congregation but it was realized that there is still a need to be careful and look into the possibilities for extra income generating activities in our provinces to support our apostolic works.

In the afternoon session, the Dutch province received much attention. The future of  De Beyart our “Mother House” and the wish of brothers to keep this heritage for the congregation was thoroughly discussed. All participants acknowledged that the most important issue was how we properly can take care of our older brothers. This is and remains the first priority that our brothers live comfortably.

The next point of discussion was about what to do with our heritage items and how to preserve them for future members of the congregation. It was commonly understood and suggested that the items should remain in Maastricht at the cradle of the congregation. This is valuable and an inspiration to tell our story of dedication and life.

The day was closed with the Eucharistic celebration thanking the Lord for his continual presence in our gathering.
