Desease dear late bro. Jozef Hengst

Dear Brothers,
It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Jozef Hengst, who died on February 24, 2024.
The mourning card reads as follows:
"
Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary
'A man's mercy goes out to his neighbour,
but the Lord's mercy goes out to everything that lives.'
We wish to share with you our grief at the passing away of
BROTHER JOZEF HENGST
Catrinus Leonardus Marius
Rinus was born in Schiedam on 5 May 1935. On 15 August 1957 he took his vows in our Congregation and adopted his brother name Jozef. He received the anointing of the sick on Wednesday 31 January 2024. He died on Saturday 24 February 2024 in Maastricht.
Jozef entered the Congregation of the Brothers FIC and went to work as a cook. He performed his craft in various places, including the brother convent De Beyart, Veghel, Amsterdam and Schiedam. Jozef had a big heart for the people who crossed his path. He wanted to be of service to many. He became prefect at two boarding schools and then pastor. To this end, he took a pastoral formation in the diocese of Rotterdam. From 1985 to 2013, he was allowed to spiritually assist the sick and elderly in The Hague and Rotterdam.
In recent years, he lived in De Beyart residential care centre. He enjoyed making excursions and being with fellow brothers. He faithfully followed all celebrations of De Beyart chapel from his room and read the newspaper every morning. Despite his increasingly declining health, his humour and puns always remained present. He showed himself to be a devoted fellow brother and interested family member. We are grateful for his faithfulness and service as a brother of God and brother of people.
We will say goodbye to brother Jozef at the Eucharist on Friday 1 March at 2.30 pm in the chapel of De Beyart. After the celebration, he will be laid to rest at the cemetery of the FIC brothers at the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.
On behalf of the family: Miriam Hengst
