It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Brother Kees Zonneveld on November 14, 2021.

The text of the mourning card reads as follows:

"     Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

     ' He who taught many to righteousness

       will shine like a star in the sky. ' 

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the sudden death of

 Brother Kees Zonneveld FIC 

Cornelis Maria

He was born on January 25, 1931 in Haarlem (Netherlands). He made his first profession in the Congregation FIC on August 15, 1951. He passed away in the residential care centre De Beyart in Maastricht on November 14, 2021.

“Looking back on my life, I must say that I have not regretted anything. I had a rich life, especially in Malawi, where it was with a heavy heart that I had to say goodbye to my fellow brothers and students after more than forty years of work”. 

He was a teacher at heart: a man who gave the rich teaching tradition of the FIC Congregation a shine.

After working at schools in Venlo and Schiedam, he was prefect at our boarding school in Amersfoort. In 1962 he was appointed teacher at the teacher training college in Mary View, Malawi, where he taught future teachers with great enthusiasm. After that he was attached to the Major Seminary of that country and after more than forty years he had to say goodbye to the country that had become so dear to him.

Back in the Netherlands he stayed in Rotterdam, after which he enjoyed his old age in his room at De Beyart in Maastricht, full of memories of the 'most beautiful time of his life'.

We say goodbye to this noble person on Friday 19 November 19 at 14.30 pm in a private celebration in the Cellebroeders chapel. After this we lay him to rest at the cemetery of the Brothers FIC at the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.
