Dear Brothers, It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Avellinus Janssens on November 30, 2017. The text of the mourning card reads as follows: " Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary 'I myself do not live any longer, but Christ is living in me. I lived my earthly life in the belief in the Son of God, who has loved me and has given up Himself for me.'
After a life of servitude to fellow people and faith in Jesus Christ, we have to say goodbye to our faithful family member and fellow brother BROTHER AVELLINUS JANSSENS FIC Hendrikus Johannes
He was born on May 6, 1916 in Haarlem. On August 15, 1936 he committed himself to the Congregation of the Brothers FIC by making his first vows. He passed away on November 30, 2017 in Amsterdam.
Bro. Avellinus was highly concerned about people in difficulties. As a brother-teacher he was strongly inspired by the desire to prepare children for their future. That is why he felt attracted to the Congregation of the Brothers of Maastricht and their Founders. He served the Congregation in various ways. In a turbulent time, from 1958, he was General Superior for 12 years. During that time he showed vision and courage, also by sending brothers to the mission. Until high age he remained involved in the faith community and society. Many people have known him and experienced his friendship. In him we lose an inspiring and gentle brother of people. In the afternoon he will be buried at our cemetery near the Anjoulaan in Maastricht. On behalf of the FIC Congregation: Bro. We say goodbye to Brother Avellinus during the Eucharistic celebration which will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 11:00 am, in the parish church (Hofkerk) of "H.H. Martelaren van Gorcum", Linnaeushof 94 in Amsterdam.
