Dear Brothers,

It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Wim van Winden on 19 August 2015.

The text of the mourning card reads as follows:

"Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

 

          Who is allowed to live in the house of the Lord?

          He, who does justice to the weak and has trust in Him  (Psalm 15)

We have to say goodbye to a compassionate person, a dear relative and a faithful fellow-brother. We call him by his name:

BROTHER WIM VAN WINDEN FIC

Wilhelmus Joannes Maria

Wim was born in The Hague on May 7, 1933. He committed himself to the Congregation of the Brothers FIC by taking his religious vows on August 15, 1953.

After having received the Anointing of the Sick, he died at the Academic Hospital Maastricht on August 19, 2015.

In Wim we lose a man who was very sensitive to whatever crossed his path. With everything in him he was searching for the hand of the Lord: in meetings with fellow-people in Sierra Leone, Ghana and The Netherlands, in his contacts with family members, in his attention for fellow-brothers, in literature and in producing icons and transferring this art to many others.

His knowledge in the field of technique and architecture he shared in a devoted way with Ghanaian youngsters and with asylum seekers in The Netherlands. He recorded his experiences in technical courses. He described his eventful life in a book.

We say goodbye to Bro. Wim in the Eucharistic celebration on Monday, August 24 in the chapel of De Beyart, starting at 14:30.

After that, the burial ceremony will take place at our monastery cemetery near the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.

The evening vigil will take place on Sunday, August 23, starting at 17:30 in the chapel of De Beyart.
