MALAWI
TRIPPLE CELEBRATION IN MALAWI PROVINCE ON 21ST NOVEMBER, 2020.

TRIPPLE CELEBRATION IN MALAWI PROVINCE ON 21ST NOVEMBER, 2020.

This year 21st November, was a very big day for Malawi Province. Being a Foundation Day, indeed every brother, community, Province and the whole Congregation had a very good and valid reason to celebrate this day. Here, in Malawi Province, this day was so special because of three things. Firstly, three young men took their first profession at the volley ball and basketball pitches of St Patricks Secondary School, our own school in Mzedi Parish. Again, this was a day when the new FIC Logo was presented by the Provincial Superior and blessed by His Grace Thomas Luke Msusa, Archbishop of Blantyre Archdiocese. In addition to that, FIC being a Marian Congregation, Malawi also celebrated the feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. A well elaborated emphasis was made on these three aspects by the Provincial Superior.

Eucharistic Mass started at 09:30 in the morning with a procession led by a group of girls from Mzedi Parish.

A Parish priest of Mzedi Parish, Fr Msope welcomed all people. After him, the Provincial Superior stressed on the importance of this day in the Congregation of Brothers FIC. In connection with Mary, Our Patroness, our founder and co-founder, a big banner was placed widely portraying their significance. Furthermore, there was also a ceremony of introducing a new FIC Logo. Bro Lawrence Nkonde handed over the box of Logos to the Provincial Superior and a small table in front of the Alter was made, where the box was laid.

The whole ceremony was spiced up with good songs from the main Choir of Mzedi Parish. As mentioned earlier, three novices were making their first vows. Namely; Joe Muliya, Gasper Kalisto and Daniel Kanyada. Their theme was “By the grace of God I am what I am” (Cor, 15:10). This is a positive development in Malawi Province but also to Congregation as whole, receiving three young energetic men in the vineyard.

After the Eucharistic celebration, people were invited for lunch. The Bishop, priests, religious brothers and sisters and the parents of newly professed brothers gathered at the brother’s house, Mzedi formation house. The other invited guests gathered at the same spot where the Mass took place. This was so to observe Covid 19 preventive measures.

We are grateful to God for this development as a province that is still growing and we are looking forward for more exciting and joyous moments to come. We ask for many blessings in our Congregation, through our Mother, Mary, the queen of our Congregation.

By Bro. Moses Mgunda.
