Dear Brothers,

It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. Humbertus Willemsen on 10 February 2017.

The text of the mourning card reads as follows:

"Congregation of the Brothers of the Immaculate Conception of Mary

    ' I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life;

      and your house will be my home as long as I live'     (Psalm 23)

After a lifetime of service to fellow people and his Lord we have to say goodbye to our faithful family member and fellow brother

        Brother Humbertus Willemsen FIC

        Albertus Cornelis Maria

 He was born on December 31, 1923 in Abcoude (Netherlands). On August 15, 1945 he committed himself to the FIC Congregation. After having received the Sacrament of the Sick he died on February 10, 2017 in Residential Care Centre De Beyart in Maastricht.

His first employment was as teacher in Maastricht, where he also obtained his certificate as headmaster. In 1952 he was sent out to Indonesia. In preparation for this mission he had studied the language "Bahasa Indonesia".

From the beginning he felt at home as a missionary in Indonesia. In 1960 his career as a teacher came to an end. He was appointed superior of the Indonesian FIC province. Until his repatriation in 1991, he performed numerous council functions. He has given his best to the spiritual guidance of religious. That was also for him a rewarding experience.

His spent the last stage of his life among his fellow brothers in the former mother house of FIC, De Beyart. Also here Brother Humbertus felt at home and he expressed gratitude for all the support he received from brothers, relatives and caretakers.

We say goodbye to brother Humbertus during the Eucharistic celebration on February 14 in the chapel of De Beyart in Maastricht. The celebration begins at 14:30.

After that he will be buried at our monastery cemetery at the Anjoulaan in Maastricht.
