GHANA THEME: “DEEPENING OUR RELIGIOUS IDENTITY AS BROTHERS FIC IN THE 21ST CENTURY” DAILY REPORT FOR DAY THREE WEDNESDAY, 24TH JANUARY, 2024 THEME: “DEEPENING OUR RELIGIOUS IDENTITY AS BROTHERS FIC IN THE 21ST CENTURY” DAILY REPORT FOR DAY THREE WEDNESDAY, 24TH JANUARY, 2024 The third day of the 2024 Provincial Chapter begun at 5:00am. Delegates left Wa for Daffiama to commiserate with the Sisters of Mary Immaculate [SMI] who mourn two sisters. After a moment at the funeral, the delegates and the facilitator returned to the center to continue with the chapter deliberations. At 10:30am discussions resumed on the reactions from communities on the PC report. Responses from the PC on issues emanating from the group discussions and unfinished business issues from the previous day. Collations of some recurring challenges from the groups’ presentation on joys and challenges were deliberated upon. From the discussions some recommendations and/or proposals emerged for attention. Having dealt with all outstanding issues, the Provincial Superior, Br Seregeous Dery introduced the process of election of the General Chapter delegates and substitutes. The Provincial Superior read article 123 of the FIC Constitutions and article 2.5 of the Provincial Statutes Ghana Province to set the tune on the processes. Aside that, the convocation letter from the General Superior was also read to the delegates by the Provincial Superior, indicating that the theme for the 2024 General Chapter was “Renewal of Our Consecrated Life and Mission in the Spirit of Synodality” with Ghana as the host nation. Membership to the General Chapter; according to the Provincial Superior the total number of the General Chapter 2024 is thirty one [31], consisting of ten [10] non-elected members and twenty one [21] elected members. Among the non-elected members are General Council members 4, Provincial Superiors 4 (Chile, Ghana, Malawi and Indonesia), the coordinator of the Religious House Netherlands [RHN] and the General Treasurer. The rest of the elected membership from the provinces were Chile 2, Malawi 2, Religious House Netherlands 2, Ghana 6, and Indonesia 9. This brought the afternoon session to a close at 5:35pm. Delegates recessed and resumed for the Eucharistic celebration at 6:00pm. At 9:00 pm there was the usual gathering for recreation at st. Louis dining hall.
