Dear Brothers, greetings from St. Louis community Wa, where the Provincial Chapter 2024 is currently taking place. We started the day with our usual prayer service prepared by the liturgy committee. Br. Lambert B. on behalf of the liturgy committee led the prayers. In his introduction he invited all Chapter Delegates to reflect on these two readings of the day; first reading from our Constitutions art. 36 and second reading from Philippians 2:1-5. Indeed the prayer service was inspiring as this moved all members to start the day’s business. After the liturgy committee concluded their prayer service, breakfast was next and all moved to In-Service Training Centre Dining Hall. The day’s business started with a quiet reflection in preparation for the election of the New Provincial Council for the period 2025 – 2030. Members moved into groups of three to elect first Provincial Superior and second the Councilors. After electing their new council members all the three groups reconvened in the conference hall to present to the larger group the names of the Provincial Superior and the Councilors. In all eight names popped up and the sitting Provincial Superior together with the Moderator asked them to declare their availability. They took turns to declare their willingness to serve the Brothers. The sitting Provincial Superior thanked the Brothers for their readiness to serve the Province. This exercise was to prepare Chapter Members for the final voting for tomorrow 26th September 2024. Next on the agenda was the turn of the Chapter Message Committee to present the chapter message to the house. The most significant areas of attention that came up during the chapter message presentation were as follows:
When the chapter message was presented, the moderator tabled again the final proposals for chapter delegates to vote. This was done by straw voting and all delegates unanimously accepted the proposals. The final compilation will be presented tomorrow the 26th of September 2024. After the morning session exhausted the agenda for the day, the Moderator and the Provincial Superior asked delegates to use the afternoon for quiet reflection to allow the spirit to lead them to elect a new Council tomorrow. The curtain of the day’s discussion was drawn to a close at 12:25pm. Delegates retired and went for lunch. At 6:00pm all members met at the chapel for Eucharistic celebration. This brought the day to a close. Br. Conrad Nakuma |
