Provincial House Community - Wa.

Provincial House Community – Wa.
The Provincial House community was officially opened in 1996, as soon as the buildings were ready. As the name says, this com- munity serves as residence for the Provincial Superior and the Provincial Council. The complex was specially built for this purpose and has meeting rooms as well as the necessary office space. Before, the Provincial Superior lived in the St. Louis community, while other members of the council were in various communities in the province depending on their apostolic task, a practise that is still continuing.
Initially only the Provincial Superior was full-time on the Council. Most Provincial Council meetings take place in this house; and all administrative offices are there as well: the secretariat, the financial administration and the archives.
There was a time that we managed a first-cycle institution from here: St. Andrew’s Primary/JHS. That school was opened in the late eighties-early nineties, when the educational structure in the country changed drastically and our well-known preparatory school at St. Louis could not function any more in its original state. We had no choice but to close it down or extend it drastically. The Council at the time decided to close it down and open a new Catholic first-cycle school in town instead, called St. Andrew’s, because it was within the premises of the Cathedral Parish called St. Andrew’s. The former prep school was transformed into the ISTC (In-Service-Training-Centre) and is still functioning as such.
At the moment the Provincial House community consists of five Brothers. Bro Seregeous is our new Provincial Superior. In the meantime he has discovered that this is more than a full-time task. Bro. Gracious is in charge of PEPS-C (Producer Enterprises Pro- motion Service Centre). Bro. Wim L established this and moved it from Nandom to Wa, from where Bro. Gracious took over. He is in contact with the 90 or so producer enterprises – big and small – which participate, and he guides and assists them in the chal- lenges they meet in their respective fields of activity. Therefore at regular intervals the Centre organizes in-service training courses for the participants, to meet those challenges and improve upon their performances. The Centre also assists the enterprises by providing materials for their activities in bulk.
Bro. Paul S. is the local superior and at the same time acts as Secretary to the Provincial Council, while he also teaches at the Xavier Minor seminary.
Bro. Clement is a member of the Provincial Council and Provincial Treasurer, while also teaching full time at the UDS (University of Development Studies)/Wa Campus.
Bro. Martin B. is a student at the Wa Polytechnic Institute.
