A REPORT ON FIC BROTHERS PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE.

VENUE: ST. LOUIS COMMUNITY, WA UPPER WEST REGION, GHANA.

THEME:  “DEEPENING OUR BONDS OF BROTHERHOOD IN THE SPIRIT OF OUR

        FOUNDERS”.

DATE: SUNDAY 21/02/16 – FRIDAY 26/02/16.

Before eight PM all delegates to the Conference were seated in the Hall in St. Louis Community. There were the usual delightful jokes by members especially those who had not met since the beginning of the year 2016. This went on until the Provincial Superior (Bro. Seregious Dery) called the house to order for the commencement of the Conference. A simple and inspiring prayer service was conducted by the liturgy group members (Bros. Isidore Aabeisie and Alpitio Kog). Following this was the welcome address by the Provincial Superior. He indicated that it was necessary that the activities of the Provincial Council for the past three years be appraised. This he said will help the sitting Council identify successes and failures and also identify areas that need further attention and improvement so as to chart a new way forward into the future. He appealed to members to observe objectivity in expressing their  individual views and tolerance for the opinions of others. Provincial Superior among other things stated that for the coming five days, Conference delegates have come together to:

i. Appraise the administration of the Province by the sitting PC over the past three years

ii. Appraise the implementation of the last Provincial Chapter Resolutions by the sitting PC

iii. Base on the outcome of (i) and (ii) above, provide further guidelines/suggestions to the PC on how to proceed with the complete realization of the 2012 Provincial and General Chapter resolutions in the next three years

iv. Find a suitable replacement for Bro. Clement Naapire – who for reasons of studies can no longer perform his role effectively as a Provincial Councilor. It must however be noted that the decision of this house on this matter is subject to the approval by the General Council.

The Provincial Superior finally declared the Conference officially opened by invoking the intercessory prayers of Mother Mary, the Patroness of the Congregation. A good will message from Bro. Clement Naapire in Portugal was read to the house. The house also approved Bros. Nimorius Ganee and Francis Sarfo as recording secretaries to the Conference. Provincial Superior explained some practical matters and arrangements for the Conference for the coming days.
