Celebration of the 2016 Provincial Day

Celebration of the 2016 Provincial Day

The day’s activities commenced with an inspiring prayer service at 8.00 am under the theme “Gratitude to God for the faithful service in his vineyard.” In an opening introduction Bro. Isidore Aabeisie emphasised that we have countless reasons to thank God and to celebrate our calling to be brothers. Notable among these blessings are the golden jubilee of Bros. Peter saatuo, Jerome Konbuol, Nicholas Yangtibr and Denis Dery; the ruby jubilee of Bros. Gregory Tang and Michael Lugnah and the silver jubilee of Bros. Alptio Kog and Patrick Binneh. In the same vain, we thank God for the gift of Bro. Albert Ketelaars who has dedicatedly served God and God’s people in Ghana for the past 34 years and now will soon return to his home province – The Netherlands. Also, we continue to rejoice with the three brothers: Bros: John Bosco Millo, Irenius Nirbaare and Aaron Nee-eru who made their final profession two days ago.

The second part of the day’s program was a talk delivered by two officers from the regional office of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT). The talk enlightened brothers on issues concerning the legalities, procedures and process of registration as well as how to access the benefits of the scheme.           The myriad of questions that ensued the talk was satisfactory to conclude that it was a very fruitful encounter.

The third part of the day’s program was an update on various issues concerning our call as brothers. The provincial Superior shed light on how the PC is responding to one of the 2012 Provincial Chapter resolutions which has necessitated the establishment of the FIC Jubilee School in Nandom and the advance preparation towards the establishment of the FIC St. Louis Senior High School in Wa. The Provincial Superior also updated brothers on the meeting between the Provincial Council and Local Council; the need to reformulate the will for the brothers; annual community appraisal of Temporary Professed Brothers (TPB); accompaniment of Temporary Professed Brothers (TPB); leadership workshop; annual retreat; information from the 2016 CONCON and a brief presentation on the projections of the 2017 provincial budget which was delivered by the Provincial Treasurer.

At 4.pm the brothers met for fun games on the St. Louis Children’s park. In the evening we had the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided over by Bishop Richard Baawobr Kuuia, bishop of Wa diocese. Evening entertainment was local music played on xylophone by an ace xylophonist. When it was time for optional speeches, the brothers listened to stories from the jubilerians and a fare well message from Bro. Albert Ketelaars.
