GHANA 3RD SESSION OF THE GHANA PROVINCIAL CHAPTER REPORT OF THE DAY TWO, 24TH SEPTEMBER 2024. “ 3RD SESSION OF THE GHANA PROVINCIAL CHAPTER REPORT OF THE DAY TWO, 24TH SEPTEMBER 2024. “[1]You must keep steady all the time: …. fulfil the service asked of you” but “[2]as imperfect beings ……. we try to see and appreciate the good things in our fellow brothers, despite their human frailties ..…”. Fellow brothers, I come to you with update on the Chapter proceedings. We started the day at 7:00am with a prayer service which was prepared and led by the chapter’s liturgy committee. It was a refreshing moment. We reflected, acknowledged our human inadequacies and were also drawn to the awareness of the good qualities in every person. The day’s business started at 8:30am in the St. Louis Conference Hall. All activities were facilitated by Rev. Fr. Dominic Apee, M.Afr. At the beginning of the morning session, the President, Br. Seregeous Dery, FIC informed delegates that Br. Prosper Ganye, FIC (one of the secretaries) was not well and would not be in the house. The Facilitator then invited delegates to resume discussion on the proposals. Delegates spent time to discuss and straw-voted on fifteen (15) proposals. Out of these, the proposal on “Establishment of Louis Rutten Junior High School as Government Assisted School was dropped. Some other proposals were reframed. Among the fifteen proposals discussed were:
Aside the fifteen proposals, the Chapter further proposed four recommendations to the incoming Provincial Council to pursue. One of them being, “the PC to create greater awareness among brothers of our dependency on external sources to finance our living cost and to intensify efforts to improve our self-sufficiency financing our living cost”.
Having exhausted discussion and straw-voting on the proposals and recommendation, the President of the Chapter suggested to the Financial Verification Committee to present its findings on the Consolidated Financial Statements for the period 1st January 2019 to 30th June 2024. This was duly carried out. After receiving comments from delegates on the reports, the house through unanimous votes cleared the Provincial council of its responsibilities in the financial administration of the Province. The curtain of the discussion session of the day was drawn at 5:08pm to enable delegates retire to prepare for the Eucharistic celebration at 6:00pm. In short, the day was well spent. Delegates devoted time to carefully discussed each proposal or issue tabled for discussion. Br. Clovis Baaka, FIC |
