Vocation Sunday Celebrations, Malawi

 On 11 May 2025, the Church in Malawi celebrated Vocations Day in various dioceses, except in the Diocese of Lilongwe, where the celebration took place on 10 May. The national celebration took place at Mzedi in the Archdiocese of Blantyre under the theme “Youths are Missionaries of Hope”. The day began with Eucharistic celebrations in all the dioceses. In Blantyre Archdiocese, the mass was led by Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa; in Zomba Diocese by Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima; in Dedza Diocese by Bishop Adrian Chifukwa; in Mangochi Diocese by Bishop Montfort Sitima; in Chikwawa Diocese by Bishop Peter Musikuwa; while in Lilongwe Diocese by Archbishop Desmond Tambala.

 This special day brought together Vocation Promotors from various religious congregations, who shared their experiences and the joy of living a consecrated life. The event aimed to inspire the faithful, especially the youth, to reflect on their vocations and consider dedicating their lives to serving God.

 The Mzedi celebration served as a platform for all religious congregations nationwide to showcase their unique charisms and missions. Vocation Promotors, including the FIC Vocation Promotion team, who attended the events in various dioceses, passionately shared their stories, highlighting the diverse ways individuals can serve God and humanity. The event provided a space for attendees to learn more about Consecrated Life and the various paths available to those discerning God’s call.

 The Vocation Promotion Team of Malawi also promoted vocations to brotherhood and shared the beauty of their vocation with others. The events of the day provided opportunities for individuals to engage with religious men and women, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of vocations in the life of the Church and society.

The Vocation Day celebrations aimed to inspire the faithful to reflect on their vocations and consider dedicating their lives to God and people. Through prayer, reflection, and the witness of religious men and women, the events sought to motivate individuals to respond generously to God's call. As the faithful dispersed to their respective communities, they carried with them the inspiration and motivation to discern their vocations and live out their faith in service to others.

 The celebrations also served as a reminder of the ongoing need for individuals to dedicate their lives to serving others and spreading the message of love and compassion. By promoting vocations and inspiring the faithful to discern their callings, the events contributed to the growth and vitality of the Church and society. As individuals reflect on their vocation, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and bring hope and joy to a world that needs it.
