Antonius Paryanto Brother Anton Paryanto's Pilgrimage is Complete “I have done my best in the race, I have run the full distance, and I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7) After persevering in faith, purified through experiences with God and with others, today, Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 05:45 a.m., Brother Antonius Paryanto completed his pilgrimage as an FIC Brother. He received the gift he had always longed for: to be united in the glory of God, together with the saints and his fellow brothers of the congregation – Mgr. Ludovicus Rutten, Brother Bernardus Hoecken, and the FIC brothers who have already returned gloriously to eternity.
Brother Antonius Paryanto was born in Magelang, Indonesia, on February 15, 1959. He entered the Novitiate of the FIC Congregation on July 1, 1986. His First Vows were made on July 2, 1988. His perpetual profession was made on December 11, 1994. As an FIC Brother, he devoted much of his apostolate to schools. Before receiving the gift of a long illness, Brother Anton Paryanto served at Pangudi Luhur Servatius Senior High School, Kampung Sawah, Bekasi. On Sunday, November 30, 2025, at 13:00, Brother Anton Paryanto will be laid in repose at the Chapel of SMA PL Van Lith, Muntilan. The Office of the Dead (Breviary) for his eternal peace will be held at 17:00, followed by the Rosary and Vigil. The Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 10:00. Brother Anton Paryanto will be buried in the Cemetery of the FIC Brothers, in Muntilan. Brother Anton Paryanto, thank you for your example of faith, fidelity, and perseverance. Rest now in heavenly eternity. Receive the gift of salvation, which you always prayed for and longed for. We continue to pray for your eternal happiness. The Silent Path of Holiness for FIC Brother Brother Anton Paryanto walked a path of holiness that was quiet, hidden, and profoundly human. His journey, like that once lived by the late Brother Aloysius Sutiarto, was not marked by great deeds or outward triumphs, but by the grace of surrender—of allowing himself to be loved, wholly and unconditionally, by his brothers. For many years, Brother Anton lay confined to his bed, the aftermath of a devastating stroke. In the stillness of the night, he would feel the presence of a brother gently nourishing him through a feeding tube, or patiently changing the bedding dampened by his frailty. In his later years, even speech deserted him. He could no longer utter words of gratitude, no longer return love with the simplicity of “thank you.” His only offering was silence, his only gift the openness of being loved.
This, too, is a possible vocation for FIC Brother. The congregation holds community life as a sacred path—a way to grow into the fullness of humanity, to learn both the giving and the receiving of love. As the Constitution reminds us: “within our own community for one another (we as FIC Brothers) to give love and to receive love” (Article 97 – Mutual Support). In this rhythm of mutuality, Brother Anton’s life became a testament: he lived not by giving, but by receiving, not by action, but by surrender. To live only by being loved requires courage of a different kind. It demands a heart strengthened daily, a spirit willing to endure the humility of dependence. Brother Anton showed that holiness is not always found in heroic deeds or in the pride of service. Sometimes it is revealed in the quiet creativity of passivity—in the active choice to let oneself be loved. This is not an easy road. For most brothers, meaning and joy are discovered in giving love, in serving, in accomplishing works that inspire. But for Brother Anton, God bestowed another path: a path of holiness that is silent, hidden, and stripped of grandeur. It is the sanctity of surrender, the sanctity of being loved. And so, his life whispers to us: holiness does not always shine in the brilliance of action. Sometimes it dwells in the stillness of silence, in the humility of being carried, in the quiet grace of simply being loved.
