SECOND SESSION OF THE PROVINCIAL CHAPTER 2018

22TH – 28TH APRIL, 2018

THEME: DEEPENING OUR APOSTOLATE MISSION THROUGH PRAYER AND COMMUNITY LIFE.

REPORT ON DAY FOUR, THURSDAY 26TH APRIL, 2018

 

The fourth day of the second session of the 2018 Provincial Chapter came off successfully.  The weather was very friendly and conducive for deliberations as a result a rainfall that came the previous night.

Chapter delegates began the day with a morning prayer led by members of the Liturgy Committee.  Thereafter delegates took breakfast and at 8.30 am they went into three groups to discuss the qualities expected of future Provincial Council members.  The whole of the first session was spent on the afore-stated exercise.

At 10.30am, delegates reconvened in the meeting hall where the three groups took turns to present reports on their discussion on the qualities of future Provincial Council members.  The group presentations revealed that qualities expected of future PC members among others include:  Team builders, unifiers’ assertiveness, pro-activeness, competence, forgiving, Confidentiality, good communicators, and decisiveness.  Others are: God fearing, prayerfulness, honesty, transparency, adaptability and good interpersonal relationship.

In a follow up discussion, it was noted that the above listed qualities were collated to prepare the minds of delegates to enable them make informed choice of PC members during election period.  It was further mentioned that the existing work load on brothers, understanding and/or experience of the current Chapter deliberations and knowledge of governance of the Congregation should also be considered when electing PC members.

Next was a discussion on the possibility of opening a community in the new Senior High School campus and evaluation of the session.  Delegates unanimously agreed that a community should be established in the new SHS campus and asked the incoming PC to seek permission from the General Council to do so.

The session ended a day earlier than scheduled as a result good steering of affairs on the part of the facilitator and also maximum cooperation exhibited all delegates.  As part of the evaluation, delegates admitted that the session was very friendly, enriching and successful.  At 12.30 mid-day the Provincial Superior declared the second session of the 2018 Provincial Chapter duly closed.
