BROTHERS FIC, GHANA PROVINCE: FIRST PROFESSION OF VOWS.

DATE:  7TH SEPTEMBER, 2019.

THEME: CALLED TO SERVE

The Brothers FIC, Ghana Province, were happy to gather together to celebrate the ceremony of two who were prepared to begin a lifelong journey in dedicated service to God and His people. The celebration began with the Eucharist presided by His grace Most Rev. Paul Bamile (Bishop Emeritus of Wa Diocese) at 10:00am in the ISTC Chapel.

WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION

The Provincial Superior Bro. Seregeous Dery, welcomed in a very special way, His grace Most Rev. Paul Bemile- Bishop Emeritus of Wa Diocese; Very Rev. Fr. Justin Bongne, Parish Priest of St. Cecelia’s Parish; and the Candidates affirmed for 1st Profession of Religious Vows namely: Brothers Callistus Yengdem and Prosper Ganye. He went on to welcome fellow Brothers from the various FIC communities, Priests, Religious men and women in and around Wa, the Choir- St.Cecilia’s Parish-Wa, and Parents and Relatives of the Candidates slated for the 1st Profession of Religious Vows.

In his introduction, the Provincial thanked the Parents of the slated candidates for whole heartedly offering their sons to embrace the religious vocation especially in the FIC way of life. He acknowledged the fact that the celebration of the day was due to the acceptance of the two young men ( Callistus and Prosper) who went through  three years period of initial formation at various levels namely the Pre-novitiate, Canonical Year Novitiate and finally the Practical Year. He said the 1st Profession marked the end of their initial formation and that the second phase which is the ongoing formation has just started.

In the homily of this august occasion, Bishop Paul admonished the two young men to take the word of God seriously in their lives. Taking inspiration from the first reading of the day from the Prophet Ezekiel, the Bishop enjoined the Candidates to “chew, masticate, digest and assimilate the word of God, making it part and parcel of their lives.” He presented a Bible to each of them and encouraged them to continuously study the Word of God.

After the mass there was a brief banquet at the In-Service- Training- Centre (ISTC). Every one present had enough food and drink to take. The banquet was interlaced with traditional music and dance and all present were treated to their satisfaction with some good local music.

In summary it was a memorable day, particularly for the two young-professed, who have just began a lifelong journey with the view to finding lasting fulfillment in dedicated service to God and His people.

With one heart in love, and with the ever beaming Spirit of unity in diversity, let us continue to support them with our prayers.
