The question of the Virgin Mary's relationship to God's fundamental work of creation is one that has interested me for the past nineteen years or so. However, this is the first piece of specifically theological writing that I have done on the subject, and I hope it will prove to be the first stage of a long process of study that I am undertaking in the area of 'green mariology', that is, Mary's part in the theology of nature. I hope it will also encourage others to work in the same area.
