It is our sad duty to inform you about the passing away of Bro. John Bosco Bongnea in Ghana on November 22, 2017.

BROTHER JOHN BOSCO BONGNEA FIC

He was born on December 9, 1963 in Jirapa, Ghana. On September 14, 1996 he committed himself to the Congregation of the Brothers FIC by making his first vows. He passed away on November 22, 2017 in Tafo Hospital in Ghana. He was 54 years.

The Provincial Council of Ghana sent us the following additional information: 

"  After his primary and secondary education Bro. John Bosco  went on to train as a Nurse in 1990, successfully completing this in 1993. He then joined the formation program of the Brothers FIC  in October 1993, making his first profession of religious vows in September, 1996. He had worked all his live as a Nurse, being the In-Charge of Kaleo Clinic for many years. Whiles there, he initiated and started the Orthopedic Services Centre in Kaleo, since  giving special care to the disabled was so dear to his heart.  In April 2008, at the request of the  then Bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Paul Bemile, he was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Wa Diocesan Health Secretariat, which office he held until his death.

From August 2014, Bro. Bongnea had battled with a Motor Neuron Disease (MND) which progressed unrelentingly. He had gone down the week before to Kumasi for a chiropractic massage and on his way back to Wa he felt unwell and was rushed to the nearest hospital, which happened to be Tafo hospital. But unfortunately he passed away shortly afterwards.

The PC has scheduled the funeral on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 December, 2017 at St. Louis Community in Wa. On Friday December 8, the body will be conveyed from the Wa Regional Hospital Mortuary to the Brothers FIC Provincial House for a prayer service exclusively for Brothers FIC. Following this, will be reception of the body at St. Andrew Cathedral. Thereafter, we will proceed to St. Louis Community to commence the traditional morning till Saturday December 9, for the funeral mass at 10:00 am. This will be followed by burial at our cemetery in St. Louis compound, Wa.  "
